Consulting & Managed Support

The senior engineer in the room, and the team behind the pager.

Sometimes you don't need a build. You need a decision made well, a system reviewed honestly, or a fleet watched around the clock. We offer senior technical advice and SLA-backed operations for the systems we build and the ones we inherit.

Where teams get stuck

The problems we are usually called in for.

Problem 01

A decision too expensive to get wrong

Platform choice, build-vs-buy, vendor selection. You need experience, not a sales deck.

Problem 02

Due diligence on a codebase you're about to acquire

The pitch says modern stack. The repository says otherwise.

Problem 03

No one is watching production

Uptime depends on a customer noticing before you do.

Problem 04

A team that needs a technical lead, not a full-time hire yet

Engineers without direction, a roadmap without an owner.

What we deliver

Capabilities, not buzzwords.

Each of these is a thing we have shipped and supported in production. Ask us for the specifics on a call.

  1. 01

    Architecture & code review

Independent assessment of systems, security posture and scalability with a prioritized remediation plan.

  2. 02

    Technical due diligence

Codebase, infrastructure and team evaluation for investors and acquirers, delivered in plain language.

  3. 03

    Fractional CTO

Senior technical leadership on a part-time basis: roadmap, hiring, vendor management and board reporting.

  4. 04

    Cloud & IoT strategy

Platform selection, migration roadmaps and total-cost modelling before you commit.

  5. 05

    24/7 managed support

Monitoring, incident response and maintenance under a defined SLA with monthly reporting.

  6. 06

    Security assessments

Threat modelling, configuration review and penetration-test coordination for products and infrastructure.

  7. 07

    Team enablement

Workshops, pairing and playbooks that raise your in-house team's capability.

How it runs

The same five steps, tuned for this practice.

Discovery first, architecture before code, weekly demos, staged deployment and SLA-backed operation.

01

Discover

Two weeks to understand the problem, the constraints and the people. We leave with a written brief, a risk register and a scope you can sign.

02

Architect

System design, security model, data flow and cost estimate, reviewed with your team before anyone writes production code.

03

Build

Weekly demos of working software. Typed, tested, reviewed. You see progress, not status reports.

04

Deploy

Staged rollouts with monitoring in place before launch. Runbooks written. Rollback rehearsed.

05

Operate

SLA-backed support, scheduled improvements and a named engineer who knows the system.

Engagement

Ways to engage this practice.

Fixed-scope project

Defined deliverables, milestones and price. Best for well-understood builds with a clear finish line.

Dedicated team

A cross-functional squad embedded with your product, billed monthly. Best for evolving products and long roadmaps.

Team extension

Senior engineers who join your existing team under your process. Best for capacity and specialist skills.

FAQ

Questions about consulting & support work.

What is included in managed support?

Proactive monitoring, alerting, incident response with defined response times, patching, backup verification and a monthly report. Tiers range from business hours to 24/7.

Do you support systems you did not build?

Yes, after an onboarding audit so we understand the system before we are responsible for it.

How does a fractional CTO engagement work?

Typically one to three days a week on a fixed monthly fee, attending leadership meetings and owning the technical roadmap.

Can you do a one-off architecture review?

Yes: a two-to-three-week review with a written report and a walkthrough, no ongoing commitment.

What are your SLA response times?

Critical incidents: 15-minute acknowledgement, 24/7 on our top tier. The full matrix is published in every support agreement.
